Ethnicity Tag ♡

Hey Guys,

Remember with last months Tag Post I said, I would do one every month if February's went down well, yep it sure went down well, so here I am with another one! The tag I'm posting today is the Ethnicity Tag, I loved reading Raashi's (whose blog I am completely obsessed with, god, I love that girl ☺) take on it and thought I'd give it ago. We're both of the same culture so I pretty much understood every word she wrote haha! Right, lets get on with it!

What is your Ethnicity?
I am a fully pledged Indian haha, I come from an Indian background!

When was the last time you visited your country?
This one may shock you all, I haven't been in over, what must be coming up to 15 years. I remember India quite clearly though, there's this one memory I will never forget. My mum took us three siblings to visit an aunt, as you do, and as I exited the front door, I saw a very big cow in front (of course that's casual lol), and I thought it would be fun to go MOOO. Being a 5 year old, there was nothing stopping me, so I yelled MOOO, and got my sister to do the same. Nothing happened, so I yelled again, and then it started chasing me (okay I exaggerated) it took about 5 steps and I ran for my life and laughed it all off after!

Name one household item that best represents your culture. This is hard, most things in my house represent my culture, but as for the best, it has to be incense sticks, I think every Indian has them. They make the house smell so fresh and lovely!

Name one ethnic food that you enjoy the most.
One, are you for real. I can't, there are so many I enjoy. Samosa's, Bhel Puri, Chilli Paneer, the list goes on. Not to mention all the indian sweets like Burfi, my do I love a good Chocolate Burfi!

What part of your country are you from?I am from Gujarat, just don't ask me what part of India that's located in!

What song reminds you of your country?I'm going to have to be truthful here, as Indian as I am, I don't watch any Indian movies nor listen to the songs. I just don't understand them because they're sung in Hindi and I really don't understand a word of it. Although when I was a child I used to watch the big Bollywood films with subtitles, but I think that hobby has faded.

Do you speak your language?
I sure do, in India, from my understanding the main languages are Hindi and Gujarati, although I think Hindi is the predominant one. I don't speak Hindi but I do speak Guajarati! Half way there ..

Again, similar to the Get To Know Me Tag, I won't tag anyone in particular but if you've read this and fancy giving it a go, go for it! I'd love to give it a read ☺

Tip ♡

  1. This was such an interesting read, thank you for sharing! I don't know a lot about Indian culture but what I know of it is that it's a wonderful culture and an amazing country I'd love to visit one day!

  2. Ahhh I love this post! I can relate to this so much hahah. I love Bhel Puri! And omggg, Indian sweets (esp gulab jamun) are probably my most favourite things to eat hahah, so good!

  3. I remember reading this tag on Raashi's blog a while back, and I enjoyed it so much! This post was a joy to read, hun; it's so lovely getting to know you a little better, and learning more about your culture. :) x I'll be totally honest... What I really love about the wonderful Indian culture is the FOOD. Like, oh my gosh, so many delicious dishes, I couldn't even pick a favourite! <3 Ok, I probably could... I'd have to go with Pasanda or Korma... Although it's a tough choice, and honestly I'll stop right here because just thinking about this is making me seriously hungry, haha. x x I'm from Poland myself, and like you, I haven't visited my home country in absolute years. I'm settled down in the UK now, and honestly I don't have much family in Poland that I could even visit. Do have lots of wonderful childhood memories from there, though! <3 Thanks for sharing this lovely tag, hope you're having a super awesome week so far. :)

  9. haha this is such a fun post! i've never been to india but have always been so curious because i have heard some indonesian fellas who vacationed there said that it is common for cows to be out on the streets and even if a cow is sitting there in the middle of the road and blocking the traffic, there's nothing you can do about it because it's holy. that's some rad culture i really wanna see for myself! and oh the food <3 <3 i'm all about spices so indian food is definitely one of my favourites.

  38. Not everyone knows this, but I'm a huge fan of indian food! Especially the briyani rice. I don't really like the sweets though, but if we talk about main meals here, indians are the best! There's no place in my hometown which sells indian food and it's saddening. I'm from Indonesia, and I always book a hotel in little india area everytime I go to Singapore because that's where I can eat indian food all the times ;D

    Take care,

  39. This is such a cool tag :) That cow story is hilarious! Sounds like something I would do too...at my age now hahahaha
I haven't really tried many Indian foods before mostly because I don't know what to order. But those look really good!

  40. Trishna, you are the absolute sweetest to me always, so much love for you ♥ Also, AHAHA, that cow story! Haha, it’s so, so perfect! Oh my goshhh, all the food you named, I’m craving each and every one of them now! Haha whoops :P I can totally get not watching too many movies because of it all being in hindi, I learnt enough hindi from subtitles to get me by but so much of the time I still miss things :P I have a few gujarati friends so I know a few typical Gujarati phrases, hehe. Loved this!

  41. I really like this Tag idea!I might do one! It's nice to know your background :) My boyfriend is Indian actually, and the amount of samosas I eat round his house is unreal lol.

  42. Uhm helloooo BHEL PURI!!! Also Burfi til the end! My parents are Indian too but I don't listen to any Indian music or watch any Bollywood films either!
