5 Blogging Things That Annoy Me ♡

Hey Guys,

Now, I love blogging, it's such an amazing thing that's come into my life. I love everything about it, from the writing, the community etc, which is why I wrote my 10 things I love about blogging post but there are a handful of things that annoy me. And I'm sure annoy my fellow bloggers too ...

No Swatches: Whether it be a lipstick review or a review of a new eye shadow palette, if the post doesn't include swatches, it really irritates me. Purely because, as a reader I know the product looks different on skin as opposed to in a bottle, god damn it, swatch the thing. Fine, if you throw a product into a favourites or anything else, because that isn't the focus of the post, but if its an actual review, I want to see what it looks like, whether that be on paper, skin or lips! I've come across posts like this and it puts me off, I don't even leave a comment, I end up moving onto another blog. Is this just me?

Light Coloured Handwriting: This is a new discovery, but if one has a white background with super light coloured writing, how is one supposed to read the post. I've come across this a few times and have found myself squinting and struggling to read, then I think to myself, why am I doing this, I need to clearly read the post - not harm my eyes.

Follow For Follow Comments: I see all you bloggers agreeing with me on this one. It's by far the most annoying. Every one of us has got it, and now I think we're all over it, I hope lol. When people leave follow for follow comments, it really used to bug me but now I just take it in my stride and give a little humph. It just does the opposite, I don't visit the blog, or leave a comment, I just don't. Having said that, I know the person just trying to expand your audience, we all are, there are just other ways to go about it.

Not Disclosing Sponsored Posts: This is child's play how can you not? I mean it's a golden rule to outline if a post is sponsored or products were sent to you, no? I've personally never done a sponsored post as of yet, I've been offered but they don't fit into my blog and content. Oh yeah let me just add in, what is with totally unrelated sponsored posts?? I get if your just starting out, you get excited. You should know what's right for your blog. Now on with the actual annoyance, it's not fair to your readers when you don't disclose a sponsored post, your misleading them.

When People Say Blogging is Easy: please? Are you for real? Writing up a post, taking the pictures for it, dealing with natural, annoying daylight isn't easy, it's pretty difficult. We all live busy lives and fitting blogging in, as much of a priority it is, is hard. The writing is the easy part, you can do it on your phone whilst on the tube, wherever, it's the latter that follows that can be quite challenging. Promoting your posts on social media, it's easier said than done. And don't forget commenting, it's my favourite part but boy it takes a huge amount of time.

This post has turned into a major rant haha, I apologise but seriously, if your a fellow blogger which our of these annoy you the most, or is there anything else that does?

I promise, I'll feel a little bit more chirpy in Tuesdays post lols ☺

  1. I always wonder: If everyone is so annoyed by follow for follow comments, why do so may people post them? There clearly has to be a benefit, so I guess they are working in the end. You annoy 98 people, but 2 follow you per week, and the you end up with 1k followers in no time.

  2. I feel ya! I don't like the bitchy side of blogging either, I have not really come into direct contact with anything personally but I have heard some really nasty stories :(

Sooo... comment for comment? Like for like? Follow for follow? haha x

  3. Light coloured writing is the worst for me, I stopped reading many blogs cause I couldn't read a damn thing. Ok, I understand that white background looks better and for the sake of design some people make everything lighter in colour but if I am not going to read the actual post at the end of the day, then probably I wont re-visit the blog either.

  8. I agree with all of these! I hate when someone raves about a lipstick but then doesn't include any form of swatches! For all we know they could've got that picture from anywhere.

  9. The Follow for follow comments really annoy me. When I get an email getting a new comment, only for it to be "nice post, follow back?" with their link...it's like...might as well not have posted at all!

  10. Yeah, I don't think anyone really appreciates 'follow for follow' comments haha! I'm with you on light-coloured fonts as well, I usually highlight the text so that it's blue - not ideal, but better than straining my eyes :)

  11. F4F... Don't even get me started :) Why would someone take time to go to someone's blog and type that in instead of taking 3 minutes of their time and actually at least "scan" the post and have something solid to say, right?
Light-coloured fonts is another thing, you are so right. It's nice, it's clean but if I can't read it then I guess I won't be able to lol. I am very very particular when it comes to fonts in general :)
I completely know what you mean about swatches or some sort of display of a product. I would read a really great post about something and then I am like: "But where is the picture with this product on you?" or "What does this shade look like on?". 'Cause I can look at this image on the brand's website and read nice things about it there as well. Gimme something :D lol
On a serious note, I just want to say a massive thanks for your sweet comment on my recent post, sweetie. I hope you are doing ok and managing fine. Just wanted to let you know I am here for you. Big big big hugs <3

    1. Haha, I loved reading your little rant! F4F are the most worst and annoying, you might as well not leave a comment haha. I never understand them. Whats the point in reading when you can't, I end up just giving up. You're so welcome, anytime lovely, and thank you for your comment, I've actually plucked up the courage to write up a life update myself, thanks to you ♥

  12. I think for me it would be the understatement of time that goes into it too. It can take days to comment on other blogs and it is a huge chunk of your time, so often we are balancing a lot! :)

  13. Sometimes you need to rant, and these are all such valid points!! Preach - especially about the follow for follow comments! I also agree about sponsored posts. Yes, it is exciting when a company reaches out to you, but you have to disclose that information to your readers. I've turned down opportunities if I didn't believe in the product or I didn't agree with the company for whatever reason. It has to match your blog!

  15. Follow4follow is probably the worst comment! If they haven't written anything else they clearly haven't been very interested in my blog and what I've written about. And likewise, it doesn't make me interested in their blog either. And I don't want to follow blogs that aren't interesting in my opinion :D Seriously I don't see the point of these.
But as they clearly can't be avoided it's better to focus on the good things in life and blogging <3 Positive vibes only or at least mainly :)
Thanks for the honest post Trishna <3 I hope you've had a lovely weekend sweetie<3

  17. People should really take some time to thoroughly read through these 5 factors you've listed. Maybe even before they start blogging. Like yourself I don't mind getting comments and things with the blogger's latest post linked in. We're all in this together. But what truly annoys me is when I get follow for follow comments on my blog. Most times, I wind up following people who frequently visit my blog anyway. No need for F4F comments as well. Thanks for sharing these tips.

    Have a great day

  18. Totally agree with you! One thing I saw today in a blogger was to mention that she was wearing an expensive brand shoes, when she was actually was wearing the fake ones! I have the specific original pair of shoes and can tell the difference (which was huge) I mean why doing this?! Great post and points!
    Have a great week!

  20. Hahaha these are so true, follow for follow ones are so shallow and empty haha, and being genuine is so important to me, genuinely connecting with someone's content is important to me. It's fine if you don't connect with the content - not everyone will! But, then no need to waste everyone's time by commenting, right?

Also, blogging IS time-consuming, it's fun and lovely, but it is, 100%, I don't think people would understand that till they've tried it though, hey?

  22. Thoroughly agree with all of these points, especially the last. A lot of people tell me blogging is "money for old rope" when they're free to leave their offices at 5/6pm and I'm still sat typing til the early hours x

  23. Amen, to all those things! I think about it all the time! We have to deal with so much, and in beauty and fashion blogging it has become very hard to be noticeable since there are so many blogs!
I also "dislike" few other things -although I wouldn't say I hate them):
    1) Bloggers who NEVER, EVER answer comments. I mean, I know, if you get 100 comments (who can answer a 100 comments seriously) but not even ONE, not ONE comment! and you scroll down to past post, and there's never ever one single answer to anyone, even people with interesting question! I mean WTF! write a magazine instead!
    2) Also, it annoys me those blogs without a comment section. They write about something as they hold the absolute truth and that's that.
    3) people taking credit for their nail art, makeup looks "creations" that they've blatantly stole to other bloggers!!

  24. Agree with posts that don't show swatches, I mean what's the point in that? And about follow for follow, I do it occasionally to inform that I follow them on BlogLovin but that's after reading the whole post, leaving a genuine comment and in the end, if I do like the blog and the blogger's style, I'll leave a 'ps: love you style following on BlogLovin to stay updated'.

  25. AMEN to this post!!! I'm glad you mentioned the whole not disclosing sponsored posts thing... It honestly gets to me so much - it just makes bloggers appear very dishonest and kinda shady, lol. Although it's kind of sad that in this day and age there are so many sponsored posts going around that I actually feel the need to say 'NOT SPONSORED!' in brackets every time I rave about something so that no one assumes I got paid to do so... Sad times!!! x x
